You may be asking why…
Why has such a blog been created?
Its simple, I am one half of a sisterly unit.
I have noticed that my sister and I are both guilty of having random thoughts, sometimes obssessively analyzing them, and then telling them in anecdotal form. Perhaps the more appropriate title to this blog may be “Random Thoughts Btwn 2 Sisters That Other People Can Possbily Read Too If They Are Interested Enough to Locate the Web Address and Check It” blog.
To make things less complicated, Melissa came up with “Sisters 4Ever Friends” Blog.
I think it is funny to repeat words (Like McAlister’s Chicken Salad Salad) so I made it the “Sisters 4Ever Friends Blog” blog. Blog blog. See? Funny right? Maybe you need to say it out loud.
So, my sister, our inaugural post. What should I write you about? There is pressure to make it good because chances are decent that this blog will go up in smoke once we lose interest and move on to something else. In honor of this newly created cyberspace memoir, I will explicate the reasons why we are good Sisters 4Ever Friends.
1. Pop Culture
(this is more a reiteration of the conversation we had earlier this evening)
On a scale of “1 to Important,” pop culture is definitely an 11. I think we could pay both our student loans back with the amount of money that has been spent on pop culture materials. In fact, we could probably buy our own academic building. And, on a side note, if we were to purchase our own edifice, I think we should name it Brangelina.
If it weren’t for my sister, I would not have learned earlier this evening that Haylie Duff wrote the theme song to MTV’s “Super Sweet Sixteen” and Hilary Duff performed it. That Haylie is quite the triple threat if you ask me. Writing songs?? Its freakin’ phenomenal is what it is. Now there are two sisters who understand team work.
I imagine the writing process going like this:
LM (Lizzie McGuire aka Hilary): (singing) nunnh, nun, nunnnh…..
HOS (Hilary’s older sister): yeah, that sounds soo good, but shoooot I can’t figure out what should come next
LM: what about, nunnh nunnn nuhhhnn my 16th birthday…
HOS: hmm close, but still not quite right. I GOT IT! nunnnh nuunn nunnn nuunn Sweet Sixteen!
LM: its GENIUS Hay!
HOS: Thanks Lizz….I mean, Hil.
Also, yesterday it was sisterly advice that opened my eyes to the fact that perhaps I wasn’t in love with Jim Halpert on The Office, but rather Ryan the Temp. BECAUSE Jim might not be funny in real life, but Ryan is actually a writer for the show and VERY funny in real life. Without my sister, I may be planning a pretend marriage to the wrong person.
AND to tie this whole thing together….Ryan the Temp is ACTUALLY BJ Novak who used to be on Punk’d and played Hilary Duff’s driving instructor. (aren’t the connections eeeeeery?!)
AND if you don’t believe me about the whole Ryan the Temp being funny thing. He said these:
- The new Bubba Sparxxx hit (as well as the accompanying photo-submission web contest) is entitled “Ms. New Booty.”I’m glad the song isn’t titled “Miss New Booty.”That would be sexist!
-I’m excited to see King Kong.I like Jack Black a lot, and Naomi Watts is great, and Adrien Brody is a fine actor too. But mostly, I’m excited because I noticed from the previews that King Kong is in it. I would see King Kong in anything!
- There is a well-known superstition among many cultures that when a camera takes a picture of you, it steals a piece of your soul! That is ridiculous. Think about it! If it were true, then frequently-photographed people such as Paris Hilton, George W. Bush, Jessica Simpson, etc. would have practically no –OH. MY. GOD.
FUNNY RIGHT?!
in conclusion…BJ Novak mentioned Jessica Simpson. We met Jessica Simpson. We are sisters. Jessica has a sister. Hilary Duff rocks. She has a sister. Her sister writes songs. Our dad writes books. The coincidences are uncanny.
call me crazy, but I think perhaps all these pop culture connections are relevant to an original point I made about us “having random thoughts and obssessively analyzing them.”
Other than pop culture, I am not sure many other topics need to be addressed.
2. We share parents.
3. We once had matching door hangings that said “Chance Made Us Sisters, Hearts Made Us Friends.”
yep, that about covers it.
Inaugural post? done and done.

Dang. That mess was long. Next time I’ll be more concise.
I didn’t think your story was too long.
Maybe it skips a generation.
The father of one of my students is a driving instructor! So it’s almost like I WORK at Dunder Mifflin.
Also, another weird coincidence:
Haylie Duff guest starred on Joan of Arcadia, which starred Amber Tamblin, who was in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with Alexis Bledel who is on Gilmore Girls with Sean Gunn, who is Pam’s brother-in-law! And Pam works with BJ Novak! So it’s kind of like BJ Novak is your husband!
I randomly found this blog looking for someone on myspace and I love it! So, now I have to pass it on. I hope you don’t mind.
2 things.
I love love love The Office-it would definitely by my desert isle tv show, but I still think I’ll marry Jim because he’s sweet and funny. BJ Novak is funny with words, but Jim says it best when he says nothing at all.
I cannot get the sweet 16 song out of my head and now I am so excited to have confirmation that Hilary is the singer. I knew it in my heart of hearts, but had no proof. You girls know, of course, that there are many more words than Sweet 16, don’t you? It’s really a touching song about growing up and trying life on your own and making discoveries. I’m inspired every time I hear it.
Okay, really 3 things. Do I win the prize for longest comment from a person you don’t know?
every girl on Gilmore Girls is pretty. i kind of admire them and have a great crush.;”~
the cast of Gilmore Girls are very pretty, i wish i could marry one of them.’-~
