“Thanks, Alexis Bledel….punkass.”

That was Pete’s sarcastic and yet touchingly forlorn comment when I told him that tonight was the penultimate Gilmore Girls ep, not the ante-such, as he’d let himself believe. He also seems to believe that fault for the end of GG rests solely on the bony shoulders of our dear Rory. Pete’s obviously in the angry stage of grief, and he has to blame someone. Don’t take it personally, Alexis…unless, of course it IS all your fault. In which case….PUNKASS.

This is supposed to be a live blog. So stand by…

Moving along. 8:10 pm

I wasn’t loving the cold open til we got to Sookie’s mnemonic. Oh, Sookie. I am going to miss you. And then the theme song…I’m definitely going to cry at that point next week.

Sookie and Lorelai discuss graduation day details, Lorelai’s drunken serenade of Luke and Logan’s request for Rory’s hand in marriage. Commercial break.

Luke goes to Liz’s to buy earrings for Rory’s graduation. She and the rest of the town are rooting for a Luke/Lorelai reunion. Who isn’t?

8:15 pm

Luke is being all weird and stuff.

8:17 pm

This commercial with an opera-singing stick of gum is 9000000000000 times better than those Aerie girls. And the commercial with the dog who uses Dr. Phil-style tough love techniques to deal with his pot-smoking owner! I love that commercial! Sorry. I am a little overly happy about the fact that my next-to-last GG is unspoilt by those Aerheads. Isn’t it time for the show to come back on? BRING ON RICHARD AND EMILY!

8:21 pm

We come back to…not Richard and Emily, but rather Taylor and a town meeting. Kirk is requesting a permit to suspend himself in a lucite box. The town is all riled up because Lorelai can’t get tickets for all the townies to attend the Yale graduation. This feels forced. We all know the Stars Hollowites are nutty, but…anyway. They are now planning a reenactment of the ceremony.

8:26 pm

Graduation party given by the Gilmores. Rory and Logan share a big ol’ sloppy kiss not too far from the DAR crowd. That seems odd, but I guess it’s supposed to remind us how madly in luv they are.

Christopher and Lorelai have an only mildly awkward reunion.

Another serenade. This time it’s Richard and Emily singing to Rory.

Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. LOGAN IS GOING TO PROPOSE RIGHT NOW.

8:29 pm

“Rory Gilmore, will you marry me?”

Rory does not respond, really. She just says “um” a lot, and then “Will you come talk to me outside?” This is not good.

Commercial break.

8:35 pm

Rory and Logan are talking…she’s shocked by the proposal, and…honestly, I stopped paying attention for a minute to read a text message from Lindsay…now it appears Rory and Lorelai are riding in the horse-drawn carriage intended for Rory and Logan. The background of the carriage ride looks super fake, BTW. This is no time to cut corners, CW! Anyway, Rory isn’t sure what to do about the proposal. They’re so young, blah blah blah.

8:38 pm

It’s a Kirk in a Box…and Luke and Lorelai discussing Rory and Logan…or ARE they? “After all this time how could you not know?” Hit us over the head a little harder with the meta stick, writers! Thanks!

Rory sits on moving boxes eating dry cereal. She tries on the engagement ring and smiles. Reflective “la la la” background music. Commercial.

8:48 pm

Grandparents and Lorelai banter. Paris, Rory, Lucy and Whatserface talk about the evening before. Rory doesn’t mention the proposal. Ruh-roh!

8:53 pm

VMars promo! Yeah! And now…we’re back! They’re waiting for Rory’s name to be called. Emily’s chair is faulty, or something. And she rilly rilly wants Lorelai to somehow make Rory accept the proposal. They call Rory’s name and Lor gets all choked up and clap-happy.

Rory spots Logan and goes over to talk. She says, “I’m sorry. I can’t…I love the idea of being married to you. There are a lot of things in my life that are undecided…we can try long distance.” Logan doesn’t want to “go backwards.” Rory: “Does it have to be all or nothing?…We could at least try.” She’s returning the ring. This is sad!!

Rory and Lorelai are moving stuff. Rory feels horrible about what went down with Logan. Then she and Lorelai discuss avocado trees versus…peanut trees. THE END

Aaaand, the promo for next week brings a few tears to my little eye. Yipes.

  1. I’m sorry I text messaged you during Gilmore. That was inconsiderate. I think it was about Mother’s Day.

I think your recaps are way better than watching the actual show.

  2. Did you see next week involves Luke and Lor kissing !!!

You know what pisses me off about old Logo? That he was all wild and crazy and now when he wants to settle down it’s all or nothing. He wants to take his job and have his girl, but he got his crazy time, what about Ror? Poor Freddie hates Logan, so he was glad. I personally wanted a close up of the ring because with Logan’s bucks that had to be ROCK!
