OMG it’s TRUE!
(Gilmore Girls Series Finale Simulcap)
8:01 pm
It’s Christiane Amanpour!
8:03 pm
Rory’s meeting Christiane…in her pajamas! (edit: Rory in Rory’s PJs. CA is not in her PJs.)
Christiane gave Rory her card!
Opening credits. Carole King, Louise Goffin and…these are real tears. I’m not ashamed.
This is SO SAD, y’all!!
8:09
Rory and Lorelai discuss their busted-up relationships.
Liz and Doula in the diner. Dammit.
Friday night dinner. Charlotte shout-out! Yeah!
8:16
Rory got a job! She will be covering the Obama campaign. Good for her. But that means no cross-country, rollercoaster riding road trip for Rory and Lorelai. Emily is sad that this is the last time they’ll see Rory for a while. You think YOU’RE sad, Em? Get in line!
8:21
The townsfolk are ticked off because the Rory Graduation Reenactment Party has been canceled due to the Obama job.
Now Rory and Lor are reenacting the graduation in the diner with a menu in lieu of a diploma.
Babette: So this is goodbye?
Rory: No, it’s more like a ’see you later!’
No it’s NOT. This is just cruel. Why are they doing this to me?
GASP. Luke goes to Sookie and says they should throw the party a week early and make it a SURPRISE!!!!! Aaaahh! Sigh.
One of many missed opportunities to give a nod to the pilot, Sookie should’ve done something totally klutzy and dangerous–with knives, or boiling water–in the kitchen.
I have to say, I’m glad there’s a(n underground, so RorLor doesn’t know) town meeting, so we can see everyone. They’re planning the party.
There’s a coup! The town is rising up against Taylor! Yessss.
8:29
Do y’all have this Verizon commercial with the super-cute little kid?? I love that little kid!
Lane and Rory are hanging out on Lane’s porch. Awwwwwwwwww. Lane and Zach are being cute as they conspire about the party. Awww.
Rory is freaking. What if she is a terrible reporter? Lane is like, you’re awesome and stuff. Rory is embarrassed about the fact that she doesn’t want to leave her mom. AWWWWWWWWWW x 1000. Rory to Lane: Your friendship means so much to me. I don’t know what it’s like to have a sister, but I feel like I do.
I don’t know how much more of this sweetness I can take.
8:36
Rory wants to know why her mom isn’t acting sad about Rory leaving. Lor says if she stops now to think about Rory leaving, she’ll fall apart. They still have time, she says, and it’s too soon for her to fall apart.
It’s too soon for me, too,. I’ll fall apart around 8:50. OMG now that’s only 12 minutes away.
8:43
Oh no! It’s going to rain for the party. Or so says Babette.
Lorelai is choked up as she watches Rory sleep. Lauren Graham is killing me here. I will miss her so, so much.
Luke is MAKING a big tent for the party.
LorRor in Jeep. They spot the party under the tent. Jackson and Zach run to the car with umbrellas. Everyone cheering. This is AWESOME.
Richard and Emily! At the party! Damn, it is REALLY raining. Richard is complimenting Lorelai on having built a wonderful life in Stars Hollow. SOB x 600.
Taylor gives a funny speech.
Rory talks, Lorelai tears up. Me too, again.
8:51 (sob)
It turns out Emily’s push for Lorelai to open a spa at the Dragonfly has been a ploy to lend her money as a ploy to continue Friday night dinners. Lor says she’ll come for dinner anyway.
8:53
when she goes to thank Sookie, Lorelai finds out that the party was all Luke’s doing. Secret town meeting, everything. He even collected everyone’s tarps (and raincoats?) and stayed up all night sewing together the giant tent. Lorelai is overwhelmed. She finds Luke. He says he just wanted to see her happy. BIG KISS. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8:56
Lorelai wishes she had more time. She feels ambushed. Again, JOIN the CLUB, sister! Lorelai’s talking fast.
8:57
There are only 3 minutes left of Gilmore Girls, EVER.
8:59
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Lalalala. We see Rory and Lorelai through the window of Luke’s diner.
The End.
Thanks for a great seven years.
