I have one big incestual TV line up…
One thing I love in life is when my favorite tv shows collide. It is like when you have “Friend A” and “Friend B” and then find out that Friend A knows Friend B outside of you (Friend C…obviously). It is both eerie and exciting. Well my friends, here are some examples from the last 6 weeks or so of that very phenomenon.
- Project Runway’s Christian Siriano and Nina Garcia will appear on Ugly Betty
- Tim Gunn on Biggest Loser
- Friday Night Light’s Gaius Charles on Law & Order
- Michael Kors sitting in the audience of American Idol
In case you are keeping score (as I clearly am). Mark and Jay have cried 3 times in the same episode of The Biggest Loser since my last post. Dang, why do I watch this crap. Can I get new episodes of SOMETHING, please?!

I actually usually just find that I’m jealous when friend A knows friend C, but I do like it when my tv friends appear together. Did you guys watch Freaks and Geeks? There is a shmorgasbord of friends to be found on that show. Also, I love finding old new friends when I rewatch old shows. Like when Jordan Catalano was on that show with Menkis or Mouth if you’ve just met him and his mom had like 4 children and our favorite was the awkward curly haired daughter Dorothy Jane…what was the name of that show? Anywho, I did catch Christian on Make Me A Supermodel, but please tell me I haven’t missed the return of Ugly Betty and please tell me he’s going to appreciate Betty’s awkward inner beauty.
DOROTHY JANE TORKELSON! What a glorious blast from the past. I didn’t know Jordan Catalano was on that show! Well, first the show was “The Torkelsons,” then they moved (via Greyhound, I believe) to live with Brittany Murphy and her dad and brother on “Almost Home.” Ben Affleck guest-starred on one episode. Dorothy Jane tutored him. Remember how she was crazy about Emily Dickinson? Anyway, Ben Affleck recited a poem for her, and I’m pretty sure it was Lord Byron’s “She Walks in Beauty.” Lindsay and I had a tape of “Almost Home” episodes that we watched 100000000000 times.
I haven’t seen Freaks and Geeks but it’s in my Netflix queue!!

Amanda, you are so right! Almost Home was the best show to see celebrity cameos. The best thing was that I watched it in reruns so Ben Affleck and Jordan Catalano were already stars and it was so thrilling to see them walk through the door.
Ugly Betty starts back next week I think (Next week is going to be glorious for television!). I don’t know which new episode Christian will appear in, but I will definitely keep you posted!
