Why I Hate The Hills

We all know The Hills is fake. And the fakest part is the staged ups and downs of Heidi and Spencer’s relationship. But what REALLY bugs me is how the fakeness of The Hills has ruined what used to be a perfectly good tabloid, Us Weekly. Sure, most of the rumors in Us Weekly are made-up lies, but at least some of their predictions come true eventually (eg Nick and Jessica’s breakup). Recently, however, Us Weekly has been devoting far too many covers to the staged BS of the Spencer and Heidi saga, with “I Was Betrayed By Spencer,” etc., and a picture of Heidi feigning devastation. Isn’t their drama scripted enough to make it obvious that Heidi-on-TV is a fictional character? It’s like if they ran a cover photo of Jenna Fischer with a headline of “Pam Exclusive: ‘Why I Had to Leave Roy.’” Then the pages are filled with “candid” photos of Speidi getting “randomly” photographed at the beach or out to dinner. I know these things appear in Life & Style and OK! and such, but Us Weekly is supposed to be a cut above! It’s just the gateway tabloid!! If I pay a full $3.99 for a trashy magazine, I want to read lies about ACTUAL CELEBRITIES. You need to up your game, Janice Min.

FAKE.
