Now back to my regularly scheduled programming

Now that the election is over, I’ve renewed my commitment to scripted television. (To Rachel and Keith: I still love you, I just…it was really intense for a while, and I need a break. It’s hard to say this, but I want the freedom to see other people. On other networks.) I’ll keep this post short because I should actually go to bed soon, but I just wanted to give a quick list of what shows I’m watching during their time slots or recording on my DVR:

  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • The Office
  • 30 Rock
  • Privileged
  • The Daily Show
  • The Colbert Report
  • Saturday Night Live

That’s about it! I still haven’t really gotten into some of the other shows that Lindsay watches regularly, like Samantha Who?, Chuck, 90210 or Ugly Betty. I’m planning to watch the new season of Top Chef, and I think I have space for maybe one more show. So if you could recommend one show to add to my lineup, what would it be?

This is the first season I’ve religiously watched HIMYM and Big Bang, and I LOVE both of them. Every time I watch Privileged I find it illogical, but I can’t stop watching.

  1. we started watching HIMYM last season after catching several funny episodes. We love it! I bought seasons 1 and 2 after thanksgiving when they were cheap. So funny.

  2. Worst Week (new show on CBS I think) is hilarious. I doubted it could be, but it’s consistently funny. TOTALLY my sense of humor. Give it a shot!

  3. I thought I’d recorded Worst Week, but when we started to watch it tonight, I realized I’d had to stop recording it after about 2 minutes. I had tried to tape two things (Worst Week and Samantha Who?) but then I started to watch a third…I overrode Worst Week in favor of watching the third program, which was RACHEL MADDOW! And I thought I could quit MSNBC anytime I wanted to.

We need to go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 of HIMYM.

I was sad that after all my talk about Big Bang it wasn’t that funny last night. There were a few funny moments, but the 2 previous episodes made me laugh more.

  4. What’s illogical about Privileged? Aspiring writer is glorified nanny for two make-up empire heiresses who refuse to do anything they don’t want to do and aim to be famous socialites by hiring a publicist. Yet, one of the twins secretly wants to go to Duke like her deceased mother. Meanwhile, said writer starts to pen an authorized bio about her boss and comes across a deep dark secret which I thought would be murder (then I realized it wasn’t One Tree Hill) but turns out to be a secret lover who is actually the grandfather of the twins. no big deal. Also, Megan (writer/nanny/tutor) has a love triangle between her best friend and the rich neighbor. My favorite part is the gay chef.

Nothing illogical. In fact, it is so “logically” a CW drama. Money, secrets, best friend love triangle (a la Dawson and Joey)…makes perfect sense to me.

  5. Um, Gossip Girl. It’s an awful trainwreck, but so wonderful. And it’s sad that I know that Blair Waldorf’s mother was Tom Selleck’s jilted girlfriend in 3 Men and a Baby. I love that movie.

  6. Do I need to start from the beginning with Gossip Girl? I tried to read the books but only got through the first 2.5.

  7. Also I’m now CRAZY for MAD MEN, but it’s not actually on TV right now…
