Just when I thought my TV line ups couldn’t get worse…

It is no secret that I love to hate The Hills. I can’t NOT watch it. But, I thought I would be above the spin-offs of The City and Bromance. Well, ok, at least Bromance. My DVR was already programmed for The City. Who am I kidding? But, that fine-looking Brody Jenner suckered me in! When I heard that Bromance was a reality game show instead of a regular old MTV scripted reality series, I thought “No way, that is lame.” VH1 pretty much killed that “find a solemate genre” with Rock of Love. And Flava Flav. And Scott Baio. And I Love New York.

That Brody though. He has a way of getting you hooked. And, the fact that he voted off the first guy for excessive swearing, well, that just made it even better. There you go Jenner! Teach the youth of America some etiquette. Partying and chicks and lingerie are one thing, but too many F-bombs….not cool, bro! You can’t be disrespectful in front of the ladies. Seriously though, good call Brody. That guy was lame.

And, I love the gay guy who voluntarily left because the show “wasn’t what he thought it would be.” His explanation was “I love The Hills.” At least he was honest. He should go work with LC now that Whit is gone.

And with that segue, I can’t neglect to discuss The City. This show has promise. In fact, I venture to say that The Hills is going up in smoke. The two people who actually had personalities on The Hills were Whitney and Brody. And now they are gone. We are stuck with LC, Audrina, Justin Bobby, Lo, and a whole bunch of Pratts. Brody even stole Frankie, so we are left with more awkward cafe lunches where people sit around and stare at each other. Have you ever noticed that? No one ever says anything but somehow there is always crazy drama.

In the premiere of The City, Whitney goes on a date and actually has a conversation and talks to a guy. Go figure. I’m still a bit skeptical of her friends. They seem a little dull and snooty but I’m sure it will pick up. There will be some sort of catfight in the near future.

I don’t know what it is, but something about the show being set in NYC makes it seem more legit (shout out to Melissa!!!) than The Hills being set in L.A., even though it just as scripted, if not more so. Plus, Diane Von Furstenberg adds some serious credibility. I mean, come on you guys, she was on Project Runway. In all seriousness, DVF is the best.

And, to round out my already packed Monday night line up (thanks to Melissa for now getting me hooked on The Big Bang Theory….just what I needed…more shows.), Daddy’s Girls! It’s a Run’s House spin-off! I’m not at all embarrassed to admit that I LOVE Run’s House. “God is Love. Rev Run.”

  1. I missed the first couple of episodes of The City, but caught of a bit of it the other night. There is no question in my mind about watching it. We will. Bromance? not so much, though you are swaying me, LIndsay. I had no clue about Daddy’s Girls until I read this, but, I kid you not, tonight we saw the commercial and Freddie said, “are those Run’s girls? That looks cute.” Do I know how to train a man, or what?

  2. I am SO late to the party on “The City,” but dude, I am now hooked. It was the only accomplishment of my February break. Getting myself hooked on The City.
