A Letter
Dear Melissa,
Hi, it’s me. Did I do something wrong? You never visit. You used to share such wonderful ideas. I know you haven’t stopped having ideas.
It’s Twitter isn’t it? You left me for Twitter - I knew it.
Sure, Twitter is fast and convenient, but we have history. Was Twitter there when Jim and Pam kissed? Did you tell Twitter the first time you picked up a Stephanie Meyer Book? It was me, Melissa, me! I’m still here. What are you watching? Are you reading Us Weekly? Have you had celebrity spottings? It’s like I don’t even know you anymore.
Maybe you got too busy. I know, I know, you wrote a book, you teach, you ran a marathon. But, I’ve heard rumors of fascinating anecdotes…a mouse in an apt (not popculture but news worthy)…marathons of Mad Men and How I Met Your Mother…you know how I love TV marathons…I should hear all this from you.
Let me know what I need to do to get you back. It’s been almost 2 months since your last post. Please, we can go back to what we once had…I believe in us.
With love and respect,

I believe, too. I feel like we should all be gathered making some hugely symbolic gesture…perhaps reading from Santa’s book of wishes or flapping our arms like angels or clicking our heels.
Melissa, if you’d been posting, I would have known about the AMC Oscar deal and could have planned accordingly. You alone could have save the Oscars for me. Believe in your power to change lives.
Ah yes, I am a huge fan of the large symbolic gestures.
Melissa, don’t be an “Oscars Ruiner!”
I’m here PCY! I’m so sorry. I don’t expect you to forgive me. You don’t even have to call me Mom. I will never forgive myself for leaving you.
(Sorry, I’m a little rusty at blogging, so all I can come up with are lines of dialogue from Friday Night Lights.)
